⁷For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

⁸And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.

⁹There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

⁷For the cherubim spread their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles. ⁸The poles ^(A)extended so that the ^[a]ends of the poles could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day. ⁹^(B)Nothing was in the ark ^(C)except the two tablets of stone which Moses ^(D)put there at Horeb, ^(E)when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
