²⁹ May your eyes be open^(A) toward^(B) this temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name^(C) shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.

²⁰ May your eyes^(A) be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name^(B) there. May you hear^(C) the prayer your servant prays toward this place.

⁶ let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear^(A) the prayer^(B) your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess^(C) the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s family, have committed against you.

¹⁵ Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.^{(A) 16} I have chosen^(B) and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

¹⁶ ‘Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt,^(A) I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name^(B) might be there, but I have chosen^(C) David^(D) to rule my people Israel.’

¹⁸ Give ear,^(A) our God, and hear;^(B) open your eyes and see^(C) the desolation of the city that bears your Name.^(D) We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.^(E)

⁹ but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather^(A) them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.’^(B)
