Building the Temple
6 Solomon began to build the temple for the Lord in the four hundred eightieth year(A) after the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of his reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month.[a](B) 2 The temple that King Solomon built for the Lord(C) was ninety feet[b] long, thirty feet[c] wide, and forty-five feet[d] high.(D)

17 My father David had his heart set
on building a temple for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.(A)
18 But the Lord said to my father David,
“Since your heart was set on building a temple for my name,
you have done well to have this desire.[a](B)
19 Yet you are not the one to build it;
instead, your son, your own offspring,
will build it for my name.”(C)
20 The Lord has fulfilled what he promised.
I have taken the place of my father David,(D)
and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised.(E)
I have built the temple for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
