⁵At Gibeon the Lord appeared^(A) to Solomon during the night in a dream,^(B) and God said, “Ask^(C) for whatever you want me to give you.”

⁵In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

¹¹“Ask the Lord your God for a sign,^(A) whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.^(B)”

¹¹Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

⁹You will break them with a rod of iron^[a];^(A)
you will dash them to pieces^(B) like pottery.^(C)”

⁹Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
