However, the people were sacrificing on the high places,(A) because until that time a temple for the Lord’s name(B) had not been built. Solomon loved the Lord(C) by walking in the statutes of his father David,(D) but he also sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

The king went to Gibeon(E) to sacrifice there because it was the most famous high place. He offered 1,000 burnt offerings on that altar.(F)

Solomon showed his love(C) for the Lord by walking(D) according to the instructions(E) given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.(F)

The king went to Gibeon(G) to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
