²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, “^(A)Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he ^[a]answered, “I have found you, ^(B)because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of Yahweh. ²¹ Behold, I will bring evil upon you, and ^(C)will utterly sweep you away, and will cut off from Ahab every ^[b]male, both bond and free in Israel; ²² and ^(D)I will make your house ^(E)like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and because you ^(F)have made Israel sin. ²³ Of Jezebel also has Yahweh spoken, saying, ‘^(G)The dogs will eat Jezebel in the ^[c]district of Jezreel.’ ^24 (H)The one belonging to Ahab, who dies in the city, the dogs will eat, and the one who dies in the field the birds of the sky will eat.”

¹⁶ Then he spoke to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have sent messengers ^(A)to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron—is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word?—therefore ^[a]you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.’”
