2 When the time drew near for David to die,(B) he gave a charge to Solomon his son.

Do this so that you may prosper(F) in all you do and wherever you go 4 and that the Lord may keep his promise(G) to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully(H) before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

Psalm 132:10-18
New International Version
10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.

I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant(C)
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
on your throne(D) for ever and ever.”
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,(E)
he has desired it for his dwelling,(F) saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;(G)
here I will sit enthroned,(H) for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.(I)
16 I will clothe her priests(J) with salvation,
and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.(K)
