12 And after the earthquake came fire. The LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a still and soft voice.

13 And when Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

14 And he answered, “I have been very jealous for the LORD God of Hosts, because the children of Israel have forsaken Your Covenant, cast down Your Altars, and killed Your Prophets with the sword. And I alone am left. And they seek my life, to take it away.”

12 After the earthquake came a fire,(A) but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.(B) 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face(C) and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

14 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left,(D) and now they are trying to kill me too.”

12 Después del terremoto, un fuego; pero el Señor no estaba en el fuego. Y después del fuego, el susurro de una brisa apacible(A). 13 Cuando Elías lo oyó, se cubrió el rostro(B) con su manto, y salió y se puso a la entrada de la cueva. Y una voz vino a él y le preguntó: «¿Qué haces aquí, Elías(C)?». 14 Entonces él respondió: «He tenido mucho celo por el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos; porque los israelitas han abandonado Tu pacto, han derribado Tus altares y han matado a espada a Tus profetas.
