God’s Revelation to Elijah

¹¹ Then He said, “Go out, and stand ^(A)on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord ^(B)passed by, and ^(C)a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;

⁴ Then I looked, and behold, ^(A)a whirlwind was coming ^(B)out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

The Lord Reveals His Omnipotence to Job^(A)

38 Then the Lord answered Job ^(B)out of the whirlwind, and said:

²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ^(A)“Yet once more I ^[a]shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

The Glorious Company

¹⁸ For you have not come ^[a]to ^(A)the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and ^[b]darkness and tempest, ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it ^(B)begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. ²⁰ (For they could not endure what was commanded: ^(C)“And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned ^[c]or shot with an arrow.” ²¹ And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, ^(D)“I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.”)

⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.
