²⁴ And the woman said to Elijah, ^(A)“Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”

^14 (A)“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. ^15 (B)Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. ¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, so ^(C)that^[a] they may see your good works and ^(D)give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

⁹ But you are ^(A)a chosen race, ^(B)a royal ^(C)priesthood, ^(D)a holy nation, ^(E)a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you ^(F)out of darkness into ^(G)his marvelous light.

¹⁷ You therefore, beloved, ^(A)knowing this beforehand, ^(B)take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. ¹⁸ But ^(C)grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ^(D)To him be the glory both now and to the day of ^(E)eternity.
