¹⁵ the Lord will strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and ^(A)root up Israel out of ^(B)this good land that he gave to their fathers and scatter them ^(C)beyond the Euphrates,^[a] because they have made their ^(D)Asherim, provoking the Lord to anger.

¹⁵ But just as all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you have been fulfilled for you, so the Lord will bring upon you ^(A)all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land that the Lord your God has given you, ¹⁶ if you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you.”

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel, ^(A)Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and captured ^(B)Ijon, ^(C)Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, ^(D)Kedesh, ^(E)Hazor, Gilead, and ^(F)Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and he carried the people captive to Assyria.

³ You shall tear down their altars and dash in pieces ^(A)their pillars and burn their ^(B)Asherim with fire. You shall chop down the carved images of their gods and ^(C)destroy their name out of that place. ^4 (D)You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way.
