¹⁸ He said to him, “^(A)I also am a prophet like you, and ^(B)an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But ^(C)he lied to him.

²⁰ But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “^(A)Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for ^[a]the Child who has been ^[b]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

The Flight to Egypt

¹³ Now when they had gone, behold, an ^(A)angel of the Lord *^(B)appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”

¹⁹ But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord *^(A)appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said,

³ About ^(A)the ^[a]ninth hour of the day he clearly saw ^(B)in a vision ^(C)an angel of God who had just come in and said to him, “Cornelius!”
