⁹And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatted cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and invited all his brethren, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants;

¹⁰but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not invite.

¹¹And Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith is king, and David our lord does not know [it]?

⁹Adonijah then sacrificed sheep, cattle and fattened calves at the Stone of Zoheleth near En Rogel.^(A) He invited all his brothers, the king’s sons,^(B) and all the royal officials of Judah, ¹⁰but he did not invite^(C) Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the special guard or his brother Solomon.^(D)

¹¹Then Nathan asked Bathsheba,^(E) Solomon’s mother, “Have you not heard that Adonijah,^(F) the son of Haggith, has become king, and our lord David knows nothing about it?
