6 But his father had never [a]grieved him at any time by asking, “Why have you done so?” And he was also a very handsome man in form, and [b](A)he was born after Absalom. 7 [c]And he had conferred with (B)Joab the son of Zeruiah and with (C)Abiathar the priest; and following (D)Adonijah, they helped him. 8 But (E)Zadok the priest, (F)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, (G)Nathan the prophet, (H)Shimei, Rei, and (I)the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
