²⁴ But ^(A)Pharaoh's daughter went up from the city of David to ^(B)her own house that Solomon had built for her. ^(C)Then he built ^(D)the Millo.

⁸ His own house where he was to dwell, in the other court at the back of the hall, was of like workmanship. Solomon also made a house like this hall for Pharaoh's daughter ^(A)whom he had taken in marriage.

⁵ He set to work resolutely and built up ^(A)all the wall that was broken down and raised towers upon it,^[a] and outside it he built another wall, and he strengthened the ^(B)Millo in the city of David. He also made weapons and shields in abundance.

²⁷ And this was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king. ^(A)Solomon built the Millo, and closed up the breach of the city of David his father.

⁹ And David lived in the stronghold and called it ^(A)the city of David. And David built the city all around from the ^(B)Millo inward.

Solomon's Prayer for Wisdom

3 ^(A)Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her into ^(B)the city of David until he had finished ^(C)building his own house ^(D)and the house of the Lord ^(E)and the wall around Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And this is the account of ^(A)the forced labor that King Solomon drafted to build the house of the Lord and his own house and ^(B)the Millo and the wall of Jerusalem and ^(C)Hazor and ^(D)Megiddo and Gezer ¹⁶ (Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and captured Gezer and burned it with fire, and had killed ^(E)the Canaanites who lived in the city, and had given it as dowry to ^(F)his daughter, Solomon's wife;

^11 (A)Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter up from the city of David to the house that he had built for her, for he said, “My wife shall not live in the house of David king of Israel, for the places to which the ark of the Lord has come are holy.”
