¹⁹ and all the store cities that Solomon had, and ^(A)the cities for his chariots, and the cities for ^(B)his horsemen, and whatever Solomon ^(C)desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

The Lord Appears to Solomon

9 ^(A)As soon as Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord ^(B)and the king's house and ^(C)all that Solomon desired to build,

⁹ Better ^(A)is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the appetite: this also is ^(B)vanity and a striving after wind.

¹⁰ And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart ^(A)found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my ^(B)reward for all my toil.

Solomon Given Wealth

^14 (A)Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. ^(B)He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed ^(C)in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.

^26 (A)Solomon also had 40,000^[a] stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12,000 horsemen. ²⁷ And those officers supplied provisions for King Solomon, and for all who came to King Solomon's table, each one in his month. They let nothing be lacking. ²⁸ Barley also and straw for the horses and ^(B)swift steeds they brought to the place where it was required, each according to his duty.

¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them ^(A)to afflict them with heavy ^(B)burdens. They built for Pharaoh ^(C)store cities, Pithom and ^(D)Raamses.
