⁵¹ (^(A)for they are your people, and your heritage, which you brought out of Egypt, ^(B)from the midst of the iron furnace).

⁴ that I commanded your fathers when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, ^(A)from the iron furnace, saying, ^(B)Listen to my voice, and do all that I command you. ^(C)So shall you be my people, and I will be your God,

²⁰ But the Lord has taken you and ^(A)brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, ^(B)to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day.

^10 (A)They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand.

^26 (A)And I prayed to the Lord, ‘O Lord God, do not destroy your people and your heritage, whom you have redeemed through your greatness, whom you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand. ²⁷ Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Do not regard the stubbornness of this people, or their wickedness or their sin, ²⁸ lest the land from which you brought us say, ^(B)“Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land that he promised them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness.” ^29 (C)For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.’

Moses Intercedes for the People

¹³ But ^(A)Moses said to the Lord, “Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for you brought up this people in your might from among them, ¹⁴ and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. ^(B)They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and ^(C)your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say, ¹⁶ ‘It is because the Lord ^(D)was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.’ ¹⁷ And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, ^18 (E)‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, ^(F)visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ ¹⁹ Please ^(G)pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just ^(H)as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”

¹¹ But ^(A)Moses implored the Lord his God and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? ^12 (B)Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and ^(C)relent from this disaster against your people.
