²⁵ “Now Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises^(A) you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully as you have done.’

¹⁶ “Now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail^(A) to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law,^(B) as you have done.’ ¹⁷ And now, Lord, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.

⁴ “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart^(A) and uprightness, as David^(B) your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws,^{(C) 5} I will establish^(D) your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail^(E) to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

⁶ “But if you^[a] or your descendants turn away^(F) from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you^[b] and go off to serve other gods^(G) and worship them,

²⁷ “Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, ‘I will build a house for you.’ So your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you. ²⁸ Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy,^(A) and you have promised these good things to your servant. ²⁹ Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing^(B) the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”

²³ “And now, Lord, let the promise^(A) you have made concerning your servant and his house be established forever. Do as you promised, ²⁴ so that it will be established and that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, ‘The Lord Almighty, the God over Israel, is Israel’s God!’ And the house of your servant David will be established before you.

²⁵ “You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. ²⁶ You, Lord, are God! You have promised these good things to your servant. ²⁷ Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight;^(B) for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”
