Hushai^(B) the Arkite was the king’s confidant.

¹⁶ Then Hushai^(A) the Arkite, David’s confidant, went to Absalom and said to him, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

³⁷ So Hushai,^(A) David’s confidant, arrived at Jerusalem as Absalom^(B) was entering the city.

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”^[a](A) and he was called God’s friend.^(B)

¹⁵ So Bathsheba went to see the aged king in his room, where Abishag^(G) the Shunammite was attending him. ¹⁶ Bathsheba bowed down, prostrating herself before the king.
