¹¹ Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have ^(A)not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For ^(A)we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but ^(B)the Spirit Himself makes intercession ^[a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

^9 (A)Therefore give to Your servant an ^[a]understanding heart ^(B)to judge Your people, that I may ^(C)discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

² You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and ^[a]war. ^[b]Yet you do not have because you do not ask. ^3 (A)You ask and do not receive, ^(B)because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

²¹ And He said to her, “What do you wish?”

She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine ^(A)may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”

²² But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink ^(B)the cup that I am about to drink, ^[a]and be baptized with ^(C)the baptism that I am baptized with?”

They said to Him, “We are able.”
