⁴³ So the king of Israel ^(A)went to his house sullen and displeased, and came to Samaria.

⁴ So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.

¹² Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. But Haman ^(A)hurried to his house, mourning ^(B)and with his head covered. ¹³ When Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against ^(C)him but will surely fall before him.”

¹³ Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”

⁸ So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.”

And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
