²⁴ And now, as surely as the Lord lives—he who has established me securely on the throne of my father David and has founded a dynasty for me as he promised^(A)—Adonijah shall be put to death today!”

¹⁰ He is the one who will build a house for my Name.^(A) He will be my son,^(B) and I will be his father. And I will establish^(C) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’^(D)

¹¹ When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong. ¹² Although a wicked person who commits a hundred crimes may live a long time, I know that it will go better^(A) with those who fear God,^(B) who are reverent before him.^{(C) 13} Yet because the wicked do not fear God,^(D) it will not go well with them, and their days^(E) will not lengthen like a shadow.

Psalm 127

A song of ascents. Of Solomon.

⁸ Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me^(A) king in his place. ⁹ Now, Lord God, let your promise^(B) to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth.^(C)

²³ So Solomon sat^(A) on the throne^(B) of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him.
