Death of David^(A)

¹⁰ So ^(B)David ^[a]rested with his fathers, and was buried in ^(C)the City of David.

²⁹ “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you ^(A)of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

³⁶ “For David, after he had served ^[a]his own generation by the will of God, ^(A)fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and ^[b]saw corruption;

²⁸ So he ^(A)died in a good old age, ^(B)full of days and riches and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.

^43 (A)Then Solomon ^[a]rested with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned in his ^(B)place.

²¹ Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king ^(A)rests with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted as offenders.”

Solomon Requests Wisdom^(A)

3 Now ^(B)Solomon made ^[a]a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh’s daughter; then he brought her ^(C)to the City of David until he had finished building his ^(D)own house, and ^(E)the house of the Lord, and ^(F)the wall all around Jerusalem.

⁷ Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion ^(A)(that is, the City of David).

⁷ Then David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it ^[a]the City of David.
