The Death of David

^10 (A)Then David slept with his fathers and was buried in ^(B)the city of David.

²⁹ “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about ^(A)the patriarch David ^(B)that he both died and ^(C)was buried, and ^(D)his tomb is with us to this day.

³⁶ For David, after he had ^(A)served the purpose of God in his own generation, ^(B)fell asleep and ^(C)was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,

²⁸ Then he died ^(A)at a good age, ^(B)full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.

⁴³ And Solomon ^(A)slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And ^(B)Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

²¹ Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king ^(A)sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.”

Solomon's Prayer for Wisdom

3 ^(A)Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her into ^(B)the city of David until he had finished ^(C)building his own house ^(D)and the house of the Lord ^(E)and the wall around Jerusalem.

⁷ Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, ^(A)that is, the city of David.

⁷ And David lived in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.
