²⁹ And as midday passed, they raved on until the time of ^(A)the offering of the oblation, but there was no voice. No one answered; no one paid attention.

²⁶ And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made.

⁴¹ The other lamb you shall offer ^(A)at twilight, and shall offer with it a grain offering and its drink offering, as ^(B)in the morning, for a ^(C)pleasing aroma, a food offering to the Lord.

⁸ Just as ^(A)Jannes and Jambres ^(B)opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, ^(C)men corrupted in mind and ^(D)disqualified regarding the faith. ⁹ But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, ^(E)as was that of those two men.

Paul's Concern for the Galatians

⁸ Formerly, when you ^(A)did not know God, you ^(B)were enslaved to those that by nature ^(C)are not gods.

⁴ Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, ⁵ but every wife^[a] who prays or ^(A)prophesies ^(B)with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same ^(C)as if her head were shaven.

Paul and Silas in Prison

¹⁶ As we were going to ^(A)the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had ^(B)a spirit of ^(C)divination and ^(D)brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. ¹⁷ She followed Paul and us, ^(E)crying out, “These men are ^(F)servants of ^(G)the Most High God, who proclaim to you ^(H)the way of salvation.”

⁶ and the prophet Jeremiah said, ^(A)“Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord make the words that you have prophesied come true, and bring back to this place from Babylon the vessels of the house of the Lord, and all the exiles. ⁷ Yet hear now this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people. ^8 (B)The prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and pestilence against many countries and great kingdoms. ^9 (C)As for the prophet who prophesies peace, when the word of that prophet comes to pass, then it will be known that the Lord has truly sent the prophet.”

¹² And all the prophets prophesied so and said, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph; the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”
