²³ Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper chamber into the house, and gave him to his mother; then Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.”

⁴¹ He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then calling the saints and widows, he showed her to be alive.^(A)

¹⁵ The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus^[a] gave him to his mother.

³⁶ Elisha^[a] summoned Gehazi and said, “Call the Shunammite woman.” So he called her. When she came to him, he said, “Take your son.” ³⁷ She came and fell at his feet, bowing to the ground; then she took her son and left.^(A)

³⁵ Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, refusing to accept release, in order to obtain a better resurrection.^(A)
