¹⁴ For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”

³⁶ And ^(A)He took the seven loaves and the fish and ^(B)gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. ³⁷ So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left. ³⁸ Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

¹⁶ And he said, “Thus says the Lord: ^(A)‘Make this valley full of ^[a]ditches.’

The Syrians Flee

7 Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ^(A)‘Tomorrow about this time a ^[a]seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’ ”

¹⁷ And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

¹⁸ He said, “Bring them here to Me.” ¹⁹ Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, ^(A)He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. ²⁰ So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.

⁶ Then he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, ^(A)“Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

Elisha Feeds One Hundred Men^(A)

⁴² Then a man came from ^(B)Baal Shalisha, ^(C)and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. And he said, “Give it to the people, that they may eat.”

⁴³ But his servant said, ^(D)“What? Shall I set this before one hundred men?”

He said again, “Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the Lord: ^(E)‘They shall eat and have some left over.’ ” ⁴⁴ So he set it before them; and they ate ^(F)and had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.

⁴ And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ^(A)ravens to feed you there.”

² So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”

³ Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; ^(A)do not gather just a few. ⁴ And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”

⁵ So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. ⁶ Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”

And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. ⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”
