¹⁷ So Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

⁴³ For ^(A)the days will come upon you, when your enemies ^(B)will set up a barricade around you and ^(C)surround you and hem you in on every side ^44 (D)and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And ^(E)they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know ^(F)the time of your ^(G)visitation.”

Fall and Captivity of Judah

25 ^(A)And in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, ^(B)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his army against Jerusalem and laid siege to it. ^(C)And they built siegeworks all around it. ² So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. ³ On the ninth day of the fourth month ^(D)the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. ⁴ Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, by ^(E)the king's garden, and ^(F)the Chaldeans were around the city. And they went in the direction of the ^(G)Arabah.

⁹ In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah, king of Israel, ^(A)Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it, ¹⁰ and at the end of three years he took it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. ¹¹ The king of Assyria carried the Israelites away to Assyria and put them in ^(B)Halah, and on the ^(C)Habor, ^(D)the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.

Ben-hadad's Siege of Samaria

²⁴ Afterward ^(A)Ben-hadad king of Syria mustered his entire army and went up and besieged Samaria. ²⁵ And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab^[a] of dove's dung for five shekels of silver.

^56 (A)Thus God returned the evil of Abimelech, which he committed against his father in killing his seventy brothers. ⁵⁷ And God also made all the evil of the men of Shechem return on their heads, and upon them came ^(B)the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.

⁵⁰ Then Abimelech went to Thebez and encamped against Thebez and captured it.

⁴⁵ And Abimelech fought against the city all that day. He captured the city and killed the people who were in it, and ^(A)he razed the city and ^(B)sowed it with salt.
