³ And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; ^(A)his heart was not ^[a]loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.

⁴ For it was so, when Solomon was old, ^(A)that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his ^(B)heart was not ^[a]loyal to the Lord his God, ^(C)as was the heart of his father David.

¹⁴ So ^(A)if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, ^(B)as your father David walked, then I will ^(C)lengthen^[a] your days.”

²⁰ Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he ^(A)did what was good and right and true before the Lord his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he ^(B)prospered.

^3 (A)“Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Rehoboam Reigns in Judah^(A)

²¹ And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. ^(B)Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king. He reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city ^(C)which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. ^(D)His mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. ^22 (E)Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they ^(F)provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done.

^33 (A)because ^[a]they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.

² And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, ^(A)but not with a loyal heart.
