Prophecy Against Jeroboam

14 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

¹² Arise therefore, go to your house. ^(A)When your feet enter the city, the child shall die. ¹³ And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him ^(B)there is found something pleasing to the Lord, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

³³ After this thing Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, but made priests for the high places again from among all the people. Any who would, he ordained to be priests of the high places. ^34 (A)And this thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, ^(B)so as to cut it off and to destroy it from the face of the earth.

¹⁵ Then Nathan went to his house.

David's Child Dies

And the Lord afflicted the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and he became sick.

² And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons, and the Philistines struck down ^(A)Jonathan and ^(B)Abinadab and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.

¹⁹ Now his daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant, about to give birth. And when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed and gave birth, for her pains came upon her. ²⁰ And about the time of her death the women attending her said to her, ^(A)“Do not be afraid, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer or pay attention.
