²⁸ Then he went and found his corpse thrown on the road, and the donkey and the lion standing by the corpse. The lion had not eaten the corpse nor torn the donkey.

³³ who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, ^(A)stopped the mouths of lions, ^34 (B)quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

^26 (A)Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately ^(B)all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.

^22 (A)My God sent His angel and ^(B)shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”

²³ Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, ^(C)because he believed in his God.

Darius Honors God

²⁴ And the king gave the command, ^(D)and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, ^(E)their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

²⁷ And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men ^(A)on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

²⁸ Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His ^(B)Angel^[a] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!

²² Therefore, because the king’s command was ^[a]urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

⁶ The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.
