³⁶ Yet to his son ^(A)I will give one tribe, that David my servant may always have ^(B)a lamp before me in Jerusalem, ^(C)the city where I have chosen to put my name.

¹⁹ Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, ^(A)since he promised to give ^(B)a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

⁴ Nevertheless, for David's sake the Lord his God gave him ^(A)a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem,

¹³ However, ^(A)I will not tear away all the kingdom, but ^(B)I will give one tribe to your son, for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem ^(C)that I have chosen.”

⁷ Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give ^(A)a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

¹⁷ But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David's men swore to him, ^(A)“You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench ^(B)the lamp of Israel.”

¹⁰ And ^(A)he carried me away in the Spirit to ^(B)a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God,

²² But you have come to ^(A)Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, ^(B)the heavenly Jerusalem, and to ^(C)innumerable angels in festal gathering,

²⁵ Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;^[a] she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. ²⁶ But ^(A)the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
