²² For the king had ^(A)merchant^[a] ships at sea with the fleet of Hiram. Once every three years the merchant ^(B)ships came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and ^[b]monkeys.

^48 (A)Jehoshaphat ^(B)made ^[a]merchant ships to go to ^(C)Ophir for gold; ^(D)but they never sailed, for the ships were wrecked at ^(E)Ezion Geber.

³⁶ And he allied himself with him ^(A)to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they made the ships in Ezion Geber. ³⁷ But Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have allied yourself with Ahaziah, the Lord has destroyed your works.” ^(B)Then the ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go ^(C)to Tarshish.

⁴ The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and ^[a]Dodanim.

^19 (A)I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and ^[a]Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. ^(B)And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles.
