³ and his second, Chileab, of ^(A)Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah ^(B)the daughter of Talmai king of ^(C)Geshur; ⁴ and the fourth, ^(D)Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

^13 (A)And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, ^(B)because his sons were blaspheming God,^{[a] (C)}and he did not restrain them.

⁵ And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

² the third, Absalom, whose mother was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith;

²⁵ Now in all Israel there was no one so much to be praised for his handsome appearance as Absalom. ^(A)From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

²³ Then they ran and took him from there. And when he stood among the people, ^(A)he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward.
