¹⁷ She said to him, “My lord, you yourself swore^(A) to me your servant by the Lord your God: ‘Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne.’

¹³ Go in to King David and say to him, ‘My lord the king, did you not swear^(A) to me your servant: “Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’

³⁰ I will surely carry out this very day what I swore^(A) to you by the Lord, the God of Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place.”

⁶ like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord.^(A) You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

¹² So Sarah laughed^(A) to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord^(B) is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
