¹³ Go immediately to King David and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord, O king, swear to your maidservant, saying, ^(A)“Assuredly your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’

^30 (A)just as I swore to you by the Lord God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place,’ so I certainly will do this day.”

¹⁷ Then she said to him, “My lord, ^(A)you swore by the Lord your God to your maidservant, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’

³² He will be great, ^(A)and will be called the Son of the Highest; and ^(B)the Lord God will give Him the ^(C)throne of His ^(D)father David. ^33 (E)And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

⁶ Then he called for his son Solomon, and ^[a]charged him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel. ⁷ And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, ^(A)it was in my mind to build a house ^(B)to the name of the Lord my God; ⁸ but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ^(C)‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. ^9 (D)Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ^(E)rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be ^[b]Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ^10 (F)He shall build a house for My name, and ^(G)he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ ¹¹ Now, my son, may ^(H)the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. ¹² Only may the Lord ^(I)give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God. ^13 (J)Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord ^[c]charged Moses concerning Israel. ^(K)Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.

²¹ then ^(A)My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.

²³ Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
