¹³ These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, ^[a]and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

^16 (A)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ^(B)and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for ^[a]instruction in righteousness,

⁴ For ^(A)whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the ^[a]patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

³ remembering without ceasing ^(A)your work of faith, ^(B)labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

¹² teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, ^13 (A)looking for the blessed ^(B)hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
