1 John 3:9-12

New American Standard Bible

⁹ No one who has been ^(A)born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. ¹⁰ By this the ^(B)children of God and the ^(C)children of the devil are obvious: ^[a]anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who ^(D)does not love his ^(E)brother and sister.

^11 (F)For this is the message ^(G)which you have heard from the beginning, ^(H)that we are to love one another; ¹² not as ^(I)Cain, who was of ^(J)the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because ^(K)his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.
