1 John 3:23-4:6

²³This is His commandment, that we ^[a]^(A)believe in ^(B)the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as ^(C)He ^[b]commanded us. ²⁴The one who ^(D)keeps His commandments ^(E)remains in Him, and He in him. ^(F)We know by this that ^(G)He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Testing the Spirits

4 ^(H)Beloved, do not believe every ^(I)spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because ^(J)many false prophets have gone out into the world. ²By this you know the Spirit of God: ^(K)every spirit that ^(L)confesses that ^(M)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; ³and every spirit that ^(N)does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the ^(O)antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and ^(P)now it is already in the world. ⁴You are from God, ^(Q)little children, and ^(R)have overcome them; because ^(S)greater is He who is in you than ^(T)he who is in the world. ⁵^(U)They are from the world, therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. ⁶^(V)We are from God. ^(W)The one who knows God listens to us; ^(X)the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know ^(Y)the spirit of truth and ^(Z)the spirit of error.
