1 John 3:2-6
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
2 Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he[a] is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.(A) 3 And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
4 Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.(B) 5 You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.(C) 6 No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him.

2 Dear friends,(A) now we are children of God,(B) and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a](C) we shall be like him,(D) for we shall see him as he is.(E) 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves,(F) just as he is pure.(G)
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.(H) 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.(I) And in him is no sin.(J) 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.(K) No one who continues to sin has either seen him(L) or known him.(M)
