(A)Beloved, now we are (B)children of God, and (C)it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He (D)is manifested, we will be (E)like Him, because we will (F)see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this (G)hope fixed on Him (H)purifies himself, just as He is pure.

Everyone who does sin also does lawlessness; and (I)sin is lawlessness. And you know that He (J)was manifested in order to (K)take away sins, and (L)in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him (M)sins; no one who sins has seen Him or [a](N)has come to know Him. (O)Little children, let no one (P)deceive you. (Q)The one who does righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. The one who does sin is (R)of the devil, because the devil sins from the beginning. (S)The Son of God (T)was manifested for this purpose, (U)to destroy the works of the devil. Everyone who has been [b](V)born of God (W)does not sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been [c]born of God.
