1 John 2
Christian Standard Bible
2 My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate(A) with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one. 2 He himself is the atoning sacrifice[a](B) for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.(C)
God’s Commands
3 This is how we know(D) that we know him: if we keep his commands.(E) 4 The one who says, “I have come to know him,” and yet doesn’t keep his commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps his word,(F) truly in him the love of God is made complete. This is how we know we are in him:(G) 6 The one who says he remains in him(H) should walk just as he walked.
7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command(I) but an old command that you have had from the beginning. The old command is the word(J) you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away(K) and the true light(L) is already shining.(M) 9 The one who says he is in the light but hates his brother or sister(N) is in the darkness until now. 10 The one who loves his brother or sister(O) remains in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.[b] 11 But the one who hates his brother or sister(P) is in the darkness, walks in the darkness,(Q) and doesn’t know where he’s going,(R) because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Reasons for Writing
12 I am writing to you, little children,
since your sins have been forgiven
on account of his name.(S)
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you have come to know
the one who is from the beginning.(T)
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have conquered the evil one.(U)
14 I have written to you, children,
because you have come to know the Father.
I have written to you, fathers,
because you have come to know
the one who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
because you are strong,
God’s word(V) remains in you,
and you have conquered the evil one.
A Warning about the World
15 Do not love the world(W) or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh,(X) the lust of the eyes,(Y) and the pride(Z) in one’s possessions—is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world with its lust is passing away,(AA) but the one who does the will of God(AB) remains forever.(AC)
The Last Hour
18 Children, it is the last hour.(AD) And as you have heard that antichrist(AE) is coming, even now many antichrists have come. By this we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. However, they went out so that it might be made clear that none of them belongs to us.
20 But you have an anointing(AF) from the Holy One,(AG) and all of you know the truth.[c] 21 I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ?(AH) This one is the antichrist: the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father;(AI) he who confesses the Son has the Father as well.(AJ)
Remaining with God
24 What you have heard from the beginning is to remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son(AK) and in the Father.(AL) 25 And this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life.(AM)
26 I have written these things to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, his anointing teaches you about all things(AN) and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you,[d] remain in him.(AO)
God’s Children
28 So now, little children, remain in him so that when he appears(AP) we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.(AQ) 29 If you know that he is righteous, you know this as well: Everyone who does what is right(AR) has been born of him.(AS)

2 Ti moun mwen yo, m ap ekri nou bagay sa yo pou nou pa peche. Men si yon moun ta peche,[a] nou genyen Jezikris pou ede nou. Li toujou fè sa ki dwat, kon sa l ap defann nou devan Bondye Papa a. 2 Se pa mwayen sakrifis Jezi a peche nou padone. Epitou, se pa sèlman peche pa nou yo, men tou, peche tout moun.
3 Si nou obeyi sa Bondye mande nou fè, lè sa a, nou sèten nou konnen li. 4 Si nou di nou konnen Bondye, nou pa obeyi kòmandman li yo, n ap bay manti. Verite a pa nan nou. 5 Men lè nou obeyi ansèyman Bondye yo, lanmou li ap travay nan nou tout bon vre. Se kon sa nou konnen n ap viv nan li. 6 Si nou di n ap viv nan Bondye, nou dwe viv jan Jezi te viv.
Jezi mande nou pou n renmen lòt yo
7 Byeneme m yo, se pa yon kòmandman tou nèf m ap ban nou nan lèt sa a, men se yon ansyen kòmandman nou te resevwa depi nan kòmansman. Ansyen kòmandman sa a, se pawòl nou te deja tande a. 8 Poutan se yon kòmandman tou nèf m ap ban nou nan lèt sa a. Se yon vrè kòmandman; ou ka wè li manifeste nan Jezi epi nan nou menm tou. Fènwa a ap pase epi vrè limyè a ap briye deja.
9 Yon moun ki di: “Mwen nan limyè,” poutan li rayi frè li, osinon sè li ki nan fanmi Bondye a, l ap viv nan fènwa jouk kounye a. 10 Yon moun ki renmen frè l, osinon sè l, l ap viv nan limyè, epi tou, li pa gen anyen nan li pou fè l fè sa k pa bon. 11 Men yon moun ki rayi frè li, osinon sè li, l ap viv nan fènwa. Li pa konnen kote li prale, paske fènwa a rann li avèg.
12 M ap ekri nou lèt sa a, pitit mwen yo,
paske peche nou yo padone poutèt non Kris la.
13 M ap ekri nou lèt sa a, papa yo,
paske nou konnen moun ki egziste depi nan kòmansman an.
M ap ekri nou, nou menm ki jèn,
paske nou gen viktwa sou move dezi nou yo.
14 Mwen ekri nou lèt sa a, timoun mwen yo,
paske nou konnen Papa a.
Mwen ekri nou papa yo,
paske nou konnen sila a ki egziste depi nan kòmansman an.
Mwen ekri nou lèt sa a, moun ki jèn yo,
paske nou gen fòs.
Pawòl Bondye a rete nan nou,
epi tou nou gen viktwa sou move dezi nou yo.
15 Pa renmen mond lan ni bagay ki nan mond lan. Si yon moun renmen mond lan, lanmou Papa a pa nan li. 16 Paske tout sa ki nan mond lan: dezi lachè, lanvi pou nou genyen sa je nou wè, lògèy ki ranpli nou poutèt byen nou genyen, tout sa pa soti nan Papa a, men yo soti nan mond lan. 17 Epitou, mond lan gen pou l pase, ak tout move dezi li yo; men moun ki fè sa Bondye vle, ap rete pou tout tan.
Pa swiv lènmi Kris yo
18 Pitit byeneme m yo, nou nan dènye tan an! Nou tande lènmi kris la ap vini. Kounye a menm gen anpil lènmi kris ki deja la. Se sa ki fè nou konnen nou nan dènye tan an. 19 Yo te nan mitan nou, men yo pa t fè pati moun pa nou yo. Si yo te moun pa nou, yo t ap rete ak nou. Men yo soti pou sa ka parèt aklè, pyès nan yo pa t fè pati moun pa nou yo.
20 Pou nou menm, nou te resevwa kado[b] Sentespri a[c] te ban nou an, kon sa nou tout gen konesans verite a. 21 Si m ekri nou lèt sa a, se pa paske nou pa konnen verite a, se paske nou konnen li; nou konnen tou pyès manti pa ka soti nan verite a.
22 Konsa, kilès k ap bay manti a? Se sila a ki di Jezi se pa Kris la.[d] Sila a ki nye Papa a ak Pitit la. Se li ki lènmi kris la. 23 Nenpòt moun ki pa kwè nan pitit la, li pa genyen Papa a non plis; sila a ki kwè nan Pitit la, li genyen Papa a tou.
24 Se pou nou toujou kenbe ansèyman nou te tande depi nan kòmansman an. Si nou fè sa, n ap toujou rete nan Pitit la epi nan Papa a tou. 25 Epi, men pwomès Pitit la te fè a: lavi etènèl.
26 M ap ekri nou lèt sa a konsènan moun k ap twonpe nou yo. 27 Pitit la te fè n yon kado espesyal. Nou genyen l nan nou. Sa fè nou pa bezwen moun anseye nou anyen. Kado li ban nou an ap anseye nou tout bagay. Se yon veritab kado, li pa pou twonpe. Poutèt sa, kontinye viv nan Kris la, jan kado l la anseye pou fè sa.
28 Wi, pitit byeneme mwen yo, kontinye viv nan li. Si nou fè sa, nou p ap gen okenn perèz pou jou Pitit la va retounen. Nou p ap gen bezwen pou al kache, epi tou nou p ap wont lè l va vini. 29 Si nou konnen Pitit la dwat, konnen tou, moun ki toujou fè sa ki byen, se pitit Bondye.
