1 John 2:15-17
New King James Version
Do Not Love the World
15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. (B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, (C)the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And (D)the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

New King James Version
The World’s Hatred
18 (A)“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 (B)If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet (C)because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, (D)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. (E)If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But (F)all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 (G)If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, (H)but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 (I)He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them (J)the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have (K)seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, (L)‘They hated Me without a cause.’
The Coming Rejection
26 (M)“But when the [a]Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, (N)He will testify of Me. 27 And (O)you also will bear witness, because (P)you have been with Me from the beginning.
Jesus Warns and Comforts His Disciples
16 “These things I have spoken to you, that you (Q)should not be made to stumble. 2 (R)They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming (S)that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And (T)these things they will do [b]to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. 4 But these things I have told you, that when [c]the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.
“And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

New King James Version
14 I have given them Your word; (A)and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, (B)just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but (C)that You should keep them from the evil one.
