Fellowship with God

Now this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light,(A) and there is absolutely no darkness in Him.(B) If we say, “We have fellowship(C) with Him,” yet we walk in darkness,(D) we are lying and are not practicing[a] the truth.(E) But if we walk in the light(F) as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus(G) His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,”(H) we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive(I) us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say, “We don’t have any sin,” we make Him a liar, and His word(J) is not in us.(K)

Knowing God through Love

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God(A) and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way:[a] God sent(B) His One and Only Son(C) into the world so that we might live(D) through Him. 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us(E) and sent His Son to be the[b] propitiation(F) for our sins. 11 Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.(G) 12 No one has ever seen God.[c](H) If we love one another, God remains in[d] us and His love is perfected in us.
