³ what we have ^(A)seen and ^(B)heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our ^(C)fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. ^4 (D)These things we write, so that our ^(E)joy may be made complete.

¹⁶ Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may ^(A)see your good works, and ^(B)glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Be like Christ

2 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any ^(A)fellowship of the Spirit, if any ^[a](B)affection and compassion, ^2 (C)make my joy complete ^[b]by ^(D)being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. ³ Do nothing ^[c]from ^[d](E)selfishness or ^(F)empty conceit, but with humility ^(G)consider one another as more important than yourselves; ^4 (H)do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

¹³ For you were called to ^(A)freedom, brothers and sisters; ^(B)only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but ^(C)serve one another through love. ¹⁴ For ^(D)the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “^(E)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

³¹ but these have been written ^(A)so that you may believe that Jesus is the ^[a]Christ, ^(B)the Son of God; and that by ^(C)believing you may have life in His name.

²¹ that they may all be one; ^(A)just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, ^(B)so that the world may ^[a]believe that ^(C)You sent Me.

Disciples’ Future Glory

²² The ^(D)glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; ^23 (E)I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected ^[b]in unity, so that the world may ^[c]know that ^(F)You sent Me, and You ^(G)loved them, just as You loved Me. ²⁴ Father, I desire that ^(H)they also, whom You have given Me, ^(I)be with Me where I am, so that they may see My ^(J)glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before ^(K)the foundation of the world.

²⁵ “^(L)Righteous Father, ^[d]although ^(M)the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that ^(N)You sent Me; ²⁶ and ^(O)I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that ^(P)the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

¹⁰ Be ^(A)devoted to one another in brotherly love; ^[a]give preference to one another ^(B)in honor,

²⁵ so that there may be no ^[a]division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another.

¹¹ Therefore, ^[a]encourage one another and ^(A)build one another up, just as you also are doing.

Christian Conduct

¹² But we ask you, brothers and sisters, to ^(B)recognize those ^(C)who diligently labor among you and ^[b](D)are in leadership over you in the Lord, and give you ^[c]instruction, ¹³ and that you regard them very highly in love because of their work. ^(E)Live in peace with one another. ¹⁴ We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish ^(F)the ^[d]unruly, encourage ^(G)the fainthearted, help ^(H)the weak, be ^(I)patient with everyone. ¹⁵ See that ^(J)no one repays another with evil for evil, but always ^(K)seek what is good for one another and for all people.
