Livets Ord
1 (A) Det som var från begynnelsen, det vi har hört, det vi med egna ögon har sett, det vi har skådat och rört med våra händer, om detta vittnar vi: Livets Ord[a]. 2 (B) Livet har uppenbarats, vi har sett det och vittnar om det och förkunnar för er det eviga livet, som var hos Fadern och uppenbarades för oss. 3 (C) Det vi har sett och hört förkunnar vi för er, för att också ni ska ha gemenskap med oss. Och vår gemenskap är med Fadern och hans Son Jesus Kristus. 4 (D) Detta skriver vi för att vår glädje[b] ska bli fullkomlig.
Vandra i ljuset
5 (E) Detta är det budskap som vi har hört från honom och förkunnar för er: att Gud är ljus och att inget mörker finns i honom. 6 (F) Om vi säger att vi har gemenskap med honom och vandrar i mörkret, ljuger vi och handlar inte efter sanningen. 7 (G) Men om vi vandrar i ljuset, liksom han är i ljuset, då har vi gemenskap med varandra och Jesu, hans Sons, blod renar oss från all synd. 8 (H) Om vi säger att vi inte har synd, bedrar vi oss själva och sanningen finns inte i oss. 9 (I) Om vi bekänner våra synder, är han trofast och rättfärdig så att han förlåter oss våra synder och renar oss från all orättfärdighet. 10 Om vi säger att vi inte har syndat, gör vi honom till en lögnare och hans ord finns inte i oss.

The Word of Life
1 (A)That which was (B)from the beginning, (C)which we have heard, (D)which we have seen with our eyes, (E)which we looked upon and (F)have touched with our hands, concerning the word[a] of life— 2 (G)the life (H)was made manifest, and we have seen it, and (I)testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, (J)which was with the Father and (K)was made manifest to us— 3 (L)that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed (M)our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so (N)that our[b] joy may be complete.
Walking in the Light
5 (O)This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that (P)God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 (Q)If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and (R)do not practice the truth. 7 But (S)if we walk in the light, (T)as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and (U)the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 (V)If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and (W)the truth is not in us. 9 (X)If we confess our sins, he is (Y)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and (Z)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, (AA)we make him a liar, and (AB)his word is not in us.

God Is Light
5 (R)This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that (S)God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 (T)If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we (U)lie and (V)do not practice the truth; 7 but if we (W)walk in the Light as (X)He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and (Y)the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 (Z)If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the (AA)truth is not in us. 9 (AB)If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and (AC)cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 (AD)If we say that we have not sinned, we (AE)make Him a liar and (AF)His word is not in us.
