Livets Ord
1 Det som var från begynnelsen, det vi har hört, det vi med egna ögon har sett,[a] det vi skådade och med våra händer rörde vid - om Livets Ord[b] är det vi vittnar. 2 Ja, livet uppenbarades, vi har sett det och vittnar om det och förkunnar för er det eviga livet, som var hos Fadern och uppenbarades för oss. 3 Det vi har sett och hört förkunnar vi för er, för att också ni skall ha gemenskap med oss. Och vår gemenskap är med Fadern och hans Son Jesus Kristus. 4 Och detta skriver vi för att vår glädje skall vara fullkomlig.
Vandra i ljuset
5 Detta är det budskap som vi har hört från honom och som vi förkunnar för er, att Gud är ljus och att inget mörker finns i honom. 6 Om vi säger att vi har gemenskap med honom och vandrar i mörkret, så ljuger vi och handlar inte efter sanningen. 7 Men om vi vandrar i ljuset, liksom han är i ljuset, så har vi gemenskap med varandra, och Jesu, hans Sons, blod renar oss från all synd. 8 Om vi säger att vi inte har synd, bedrar vi oss själva och sanningen finns inte i oss. 9 Om vi bekänner våra synder, är han trofast och rättfärdig, så att han förlåter oss våra synder och renar oss från all orättfärdighet. 10 Om vi säger att vi inte har syndat, gör vi honom till en lögnare, och hans ord är inte i oss.

What Was Heard, Seen, and Touched(A)
1 That (B)which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have (C)seen with our eyes, (D)which we have looked upon, and (E)our hands have handled, concerning the (F)Word of life— 2 (G)the life (H)was manifested, and we have seen, (I)and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was (J)with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is (K)with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you (L)that [a]your joy may be full.
Fellowship with Him and One Another
5 (M)This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that (N)God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 (O)If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we (P)walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and (Q)the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we (R)confess our sins, He is (S)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to (T)cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we (U)make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1 Lo que ha sido desde el principio, lo que hemos oído, lo que hemos visto con nuestros propios ojos, lo que hemos contemplado, lo que hemos tocado con las manos, esto les anunciamos respecto al Verbo que da vida. 2 Esta vida se manifestó. Nosotros la hemos visto, damos testimonio de ella y les anunciamos a ustedes la vida eterna que estaba con el Padre y que se nos ha manifestado. 3 Les anunciamos lo que hemos visto y oído, para que también ustedes tengan comunión con nosotros. Y nuestra comunión es con el Padre y con su Hijo Jesucristo. 4 Les escribimos estas cosas para que nuestra alegría[a] sea completa.
Caminemos en la luz
5 Este es el mensaje que hemos oído de él y que anunciamos: Dios es luz y en él no hay ninguna oscuridad. 6 Si afirmamos que tenemos comunión con él, pero vivimos en la oscuridad, mentimos y no ponemos en práctica la verdad. 7 Pero si vivimos en la luz, así como él está en la luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros y la sangre de su Hijo Jesucristo nos limpia de todo pecado.
8 Si afirmamos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos y la verdad no está en nosotros. 9 Si confesamos nuestros pecados, Dios, que es fiel y justo, nos los perdonará y nos limpiará de toda maldad. 10 Si afirmamos que no hemos pecado, lo hacemos pasar por mentiroso y su palabra no está en nosotros.
