²¹ Dear children,^(A) keep yourselves from idols.^(B)

Idol Feasts and the Lord’s Supper

¹⁴ Therefore, my dear friends,^(A) flee from idolatry.^(B)

⁷ Do not be idolaters,^(A) as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”^[a](B)

¹⁶ What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?^(A) For we are the temple^(B) of the living God.^(C) As God has said:

¹⁷ Therefore,

⁹ for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned^(A) to God from idols^(B) to serve the living and true God,^(C)

²⁰ The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent^(A) of the work of their hands;^(B) they did not stop worshiping demons,^(C) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.^(D)

2 My dear children,^(A) I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate^(B) with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
