^13 (A)By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

²⁰ having been ^(A)built ^(B)on the foundation of the ^(C)apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being ^(D)the chief cornerstone, ²¹ in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into ^(E)a holy temple in the Lord, ^22 (F)in whom you also are being built together for a ^(G)dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error

²⁴ Now ^(A)he who keeps His commandments ^(B)abides in Him, and He in him. And ^(C)by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

^16 (A)Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? ¹⁷ If anyone ^[a]defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

²² But ^(A)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(B)love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, ^(C)goodness, ^(D)faithfulness, ^23 [a]gentleness, self-control. ^(E)Against such there is no law. ²⁴ And those who are Christ’s ^(F)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ^25 (G)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but ^(A)the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

^15 (A)Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and ^(B)he who abides in love abides in God, and God ^(C)in him.

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. ¹⁰ And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹ But if the Spirit of ^(A)Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, ^(B)He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies ^[a]through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Sonship Through the Spirit

^12 (C)Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For ^(D)if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you ^(E)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For ^(F)as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. ¹⁵ For ^(G)you did not receive the spirit of bondage again ^(H)to fear, but you received the ^(I)Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ^(J)“Abba,^[b] Father.” ^16 (K)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷ and if children, then ^(L)heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, ^(M)if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

²⁰ At that day you will know that ^(A)I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. ^21 (B)He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and ^[a]manifest Myself to him.”

^22 (C)Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, ^(D)and We will come to him and make Our home with him. ²⁴ He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and ^(E)the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

The Gift of His Peace

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. ²⁶ But ^(F)the ^[b]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will ^(G)send in My name, ^(H)He will teach you all things, and bring to your ^(I)remembrance all things that I said to you.
