Seeing God Through Love

^12 (A)No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

⁵ But ^(A)whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God ^[a]is perfected ^(B)in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

^18 (A)No one has seen God at any time. ^(B)The only begotten ^[a]Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

¹⁶ who alone has immortality, dwelling in ^(A)unapproachable light, ^(B)whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Obedience by Faith

^20 (A)If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, ^[a]how can he love God ^(B)whom he has not seen?

The Consummation of Love

¹⁷ Love has been perfected among us in this: that ^(A)we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. ¹⁸ There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error

²⁴ Now ^(A)he who keeps His commandments ^(B)abides in Him, and He in him. And ^(C)by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

²⁷ By faith ^(A)he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

¹³ And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
